School Management Team (SMT)

Composition: The SMT shall have the following members:

  1. 1. Principal – Chairperson
  2. 2. Vice Principal(Academic) – member(Chairperson for Academic Committee);
  3. 3. Vice Principal(Student Affairs) – member(Chairperson for Student Affairs Committee);
  4. 4. Assistant Principal(Co-curricular) - member(Chairperson for Co-curricular Committee);
  5. 5. Warden and Matron – 4 members;
  6. 6. House Teachers – 6 members;
  7. 7. Class Teachers – 3 representatives;
  8. 8. Student Leaders – 2 councilors as student representatives.

    Policy mandates:
    The school shall constitute a management team that would execute the decision taken by SMB and ensure smooth functioning of the school. The SMT is the main executive body and therefore, it shall be widely represented, take collective decision and promote team work. The Principal shall be the chairperson of SMT and it shall report the progress of the school to SMB. The team shall also propose rectification of the policy to SMB.
    Term:
    While the membership of Principal, Vice Principals, Assistant Principal, wardens, matrons and housemaster would remain unchanged by post, the other member will be on rotational basis on an annual basis. The SMT shall meet at least twice a year but not more than 4 times a year.

    Functions:
    • Institute school level committees to coordinate the implementation of the programme.
    • Set goals to implement the policies and plan.
    • Implement school programmes and activities.
    • Estimate budget and submit to the SMB for approval.
    • Form committees and assign tasks with well defined job descriptions.
    • Plan and carry out school level performance monitoring.
    • Conduct professional development programmes.
    • Nominated staff for CBIP/DBIP/NBIP and any ad hoc invitations.
    • Assess the performance of staff and provide feedbacks for improvements.
    • Manage situational crisis or emergencies in the school.
    • Monitors, Evaulate programs and provide support service.
    • Apprise the SMB and the staff on government’s policy.
